Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised
Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on
December 30, 1993, a technical revision application for a permit to conduct
coal mining operations by Basin Resources, Inc., 14300 Highway 12, Weston,
Colorado 81091, was deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews
and comment periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated
thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the
Golden Eagle Mine. The technical revision modifies the 3rd North Road
drainage designs, with the installation of an additional culvert and transfer
of the road ditch location from the east side of the road to the west side of
the road, below the culvert.
The Golden Eagle permit area is located approximately 20 miles west of
Trinidad, Colorado, in the following sections:
Sections 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22 of Township 33
South, Range 67 West; projected Sections 27, 28, 29, 30,
31, 32, 33 and 34 of Township 33 South, Range 67 West;
and projected Sections 3 and 4 of Township 34 South,
Range 67 West.
Projected sections are partially or fully projected by
Basin Resources due to the unsurveyed nature of the
Maxwell Land Grant.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle
maps of Vigil, Weston, Tercio and Little Pine Canyon.
A copy of the technical revision application is available for public
inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 East First Street,
