• ~
Mr. Edwazd Clazk
Arapahoe County Planning Department
January 4, 1996
Page 2
Due to the remoteness of the location no sanitation districts currently serve this area. The site is
supplied with bottled drinking water and port-o-let type sanitation facilities. The supply of drinking
water will he maintained and sanitation facilities will be serviced on a regular basis.
Being federaUstate owned land and exempt from property taxes, this large section of Arapahoe County
is not within any fire protection district. Calls for emergency aid are directed to the County Sheriff
who despatches a fire district to the location. The recipient of the aid is billed for the service through
the sheriff.
In 1988 the Arapahoe County Board of County Commissioners approved a Special Exception Use
permit application (Case No. BA 88-6-3) to allow mining of sand in and around Coal Creek. The
permit area includes all or portions of Sections 11, ] 3, 14, 24, 25 and 36, Township 5 South, Range 65
West of the 6th P.M. At the time of permitting with the County, Triad Westem Corporation also
obtained all other required permits and licences necessary to mine the site. The Coal Creek Resource
site is being, successfully mined and reclaimed with minimal impacts to the environment.
Triad Western Corporation currently has new Minerals Lease with the State Board of Land
Commissioners for the Coal Creek Resotuce site. The Lease Agreement was amended to exclude land
and include new land. The adjustment in the leased area was due to a new definition of the sand
deposits from exploration drilling. Exhibit B, of the enclosed Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) report, is an index map of the area. The proposed permit azea includes all or portions of
Sections 11, 12, 13, 14, 24, and 25 Township 5 South, Range 65 West of the 6th P.M.
The purposf: of this application is to redefine the mining areas and update the County on the new
mining and reclamation proposals. This submittal covers the requirements of the Mineral Resource
Extraction and the Use by Special Review Sections, as listed in the 1995 Arapahoe County Zoning
Regulations manual. We have cross-referenced the requirements as they are listed in the Zoning
Regulations manual for thorough coverage of these items.
Thank you for your consideration of this Use by Special Review application.
Cordially,
TRIAD WESTERN CORPORATION
~~ `J.~U~
Gary J~uttle
President/Applicant
GJT/sjr
Encs.
STATE BOARD OF LAND COMMISSIONERS
Owner of Recorded Land
cc: File #92-155
Mark Davis, State Board of Land Commissioners
Daren Pallizi, Jones Fine Sand
Don Ophiem, Centennial Materials, Inc.
8:1911fJlroumrl.dor
