The amended text,
supported by a record of correspondence with Natural Resource Conservation Service (MRCS)
personnel and documentation of consideration of site specific soil and slope conditions as related
to published NRCS soil survey documents, satisfactorily addresses the requirements of
Stipulation 27, regarding establishment of a production success standard for imgated hayland.
In addition, the revision proposes elimination of the woody plant density standard and
simplification of the species diversity standard for dryland pasture areas. The Division believes
the amended standards are appropriate, given the land use, limited acreage, and relatively
uniform topographic and edaphic conditions within the dryland pasture portion of the reclaimed
area. The submittal includes a letter from the Division of Wildlife recommending approval of
the woody plant density standard elimination.
Two minor text changes are warranted;
On page 4-626, the last sentence of the first paragraph erroneously refers to reference area
cover. The reference should be to production.
2. On page 4-62c, the last paragraph refers to sample adequacy for "total number of woody
stems:' This would appear to be erroneous, since upon approval of the revision, a woody
stem density standard would not apply, and woody plant sampling would not be required.
