General Introduction: <br />Waste Services Company proposes to construct and operate a <br />sanitary landfill in eastern Weld County. The proposed <br />Facility will be known as the "East Weld Sanitary Landfill" <br />(hereinafter called the "Facility"). The Facility will be <br />located approximately 5 miles north of Interstate-76 off a <br />private road that extends 3 1/2 miles north of Weld County <br />Road 59. <br />The operation of the Facility will integrate with the <br />inactive Keenesburg Coal Mine and the existing Coors Ash <br />Disposal Facility. <br />The Facility has been located and designed to be compatible <br />with surrounding agricultural and heavy industrial land <br />uses. It will be carefully constructed, operated and <br />maintained to assure the protection of the environment <br />surrounding the Facility. <br />Facility Location: <br />•• The Facility is isolated within a vast area located <br />within the Agricultural Zoning District. <br />* Land uses within one mile of the Facility consist of <br />dryland grazing, an open pit coal mine under <br />reclamation, an ash waste disposal facility, several <br />high voltage electrical transmission lines, and oil and <br />gas production sites. <br />'° The nearest residence to the Facility is approximately <br />2 miles away. The Facility will not be visible from <br />this residence. ~ <br />•• The nearest community, the town of Keenesburg, is <br />approximately 4 miles from the site. The Facility will <br />not be visible from the town of Keenesburg. <br />* The Facility is away from any public thoroughfares by <br />a distance of more than 3 miles. <br />Facility Access: <br />* Though the location of the Facility is remote, it is <br />conveniently accessible from a combination of private, <br />county and state paved roadways. <br />
