This Division adequacy letter only summarizes those
issues not resolved since the Division's adequacy letter dated September 24, 1999.
ORIGINAL TR-06 QUESTIONS
Geotechnical
BRL proposes !o construct a conveyor transfer station immediately uphill from the
existing haul road at an elevation of approximately 6730 feet. In order to accommodate
the stanchion for the transfer structure, BRL proposes to excavate a bench into the slope
immediately up slope from the haul road. This will create a steepened pocket-shaped 30'
to d0' high c:u slope. BRL should provide a complete stability analysis report for this cut
slope to demonstrate that it will be stable during operation and following reclamation.
The Division has no further concerns. BRL submitted the Terracon geotechnical stability
report, dated June 1999. In addition, the submittal dated October 4, 1999 included a two
page introduction to that report. The introduction listed the conditions requested by the
Division concerning the engineering evaluation and reporting requirements needed during
the excavation work. Also, page exh-8-29 was revised in the submittal dated October 4,
1999, requiring ditch linings for the ditches above the transfer station.
