CO 80203
RE: Request for Technical Revision (Facilities Landslide Mitigation);
West Elk Mine; Permit No. C-80-007
Dear David:
Mountain Coal Company (MCC) is in receipt of your letter dated March 26, 1998,
requesting a technical revision application to address the main facilities area
landslide and the methods used and planned to mitigate the slide. The Division's
understanding is correct in that MCC's plans are continuing to evolve, particularly
now that spring is upon us. However, we will attempt to provide as complete a
package as possible to be incorporated into the permit. As such, as MCC begins to
make plans for the submittal of the application, we would like to meet with you and
your associates to more fully understand the information that you will expect to see
in this application. This discussion will enable MCC to submit a more complete
application package.
I look forward to discussing this further with the Division, and will contact you soon
to schedule the meeting. Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Christine E. Johnsto
Permitting Speciali
cc: Norm Every
Phil Schmidt
Kathy Welt
040698.doc
