Also the thin SLF layer is "stiffer" than
field conditions, thereby providing an unyielding surface. The test configulation does not
compromise the liner test results and is considered to be representative of `worst case" loading
conditions.
The test sample was loaded in 50 pounds per square inch (psi) increments over a 53-hour period until
the target pressure of 850 psi was reached. The full load of 850 psi was maintained for 28 hours.
Following completion of the 28-hour period, the load was released and the sample disassembled. The
geosynthetic membrane was inspected and tested for punctures both visually and by applying a
vacuum to the geomembrane. Liner load test results for this configuration are included in
Appendix B-1. Test results are discussed in Section 5.
4.2 Test #2 -Phase )v PSSA Liner System
~, The test sample was assembled using approximately 5.9 inches of LVSC Fill in the bottom of the cell.
Next, a 12-inch diameter piece of 100-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane was placed on top of the
LVSC Fitl material. Finally, the DCF material was placed on top of the liner to a thickness of
approximately 5.5 inches. The thickness of SLF and DCF placed in the load cell is not representative
of Field conditions due to the small size of the testing apparatus.
The test sample was loaded in 50 pounds per square inch (psi) increments over a 24-hour period until
the tazget pressure of 630 psi was reached. The full load of 630 psi was maintained for 24 hours.
Following completion of the 24-hour period, the load was released and the sample disassembled. The
geosynthetic membrane was inspected and tested for punctures both visually and by applying a
vacuum to the geomembrane. Liner load test results for this configuration are included in
i Appendix B-2. Test results are discussed in Section 5.
4.3 Test #3 -Phase IV PSSA Liner System
The test sample was assembled using approximately 4.9 inches of LVSC Fil] in the bottom of the cell.
Next, a 12-inch diameter piece of 100 mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane was placed on top of the
LVSC Fill material.
