.~• <br />Mr. Jim Green -2- <br />Colorado Historical Society <br />Township 13 South, Range 91 West, 6th PM <br />Sec. l: All <br />Sec. 2: All except S/25W/4 <br />Sec. 3: NE/4, Lot 3, N/25E/4 <br />Sec. 11: E/2NE/4 <br />Sec. 12: All except W/2SE/4, NE/4SW/4 <br />Sec. 13: N/2NE/4, NE/4NW/4 <br />April 24. 1912 <br />The existing Somerset Mine permit area contains 3,737 acres of land of which <br />1,608 acres are on private land owned by the Operator and 2,129 acres are on <br />Federal land. <br />The additional permit area encompassed by the addition of the Sanborn Creek <br />Mine East Coal Tract is located in portions of the following described lands: <br />Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM <br />Sec. l: All except N/2N/2 <br />Sec. 2: All except N/2N/2 <br />Sec. 3: S/2N/2 <br />Sec. 11: North of the North Fork of Gunnison River <br />Sec. 12: North of the North Fork of Gunnison River <br />The additional permit area encompassed by the addition of the Sanborn Creek <br />Mine East Coal Tract contains 1,792 acres of land of which 70 acres are on <br />private land and 1,722 acres are on Federal land. Of the 70 acres on private <br />land, 61 acres are owned by the Operator and 9 acres are owned by others. <br />The combined permit area of the Somerset Coal Mine with the addition of the <br />Sanborn Creek Mine East Tract contains 5,529 acres of land of which 1,678 <br />acres are on private land. The mine site is located north of the town of <br />Somerset, Colorado. The North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of <br />the town of Somerset. The mine permit areas are located on the U.S. <br />Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie and Somerset Quadrangle maps. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map <br />of 0926. A copy of the permit revision application is available for public <br />inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer, Delta, CO. Written <br />comments, objections or requests for an informal conference on the permit <br />revision application may be submitted to, and additional information obtained <br />from, the Mined Land Reclamation Division, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, (303> 866-3567.
