NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Approve Technical Revision Application No. 41 (TR-41) for the Bowie Mine No. 1 (Permit No. C-1981-038), submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. Bowie Resources Limited (BRL) is proposing to drill one exploration hole in order to assess the remaining coal reserves at the Bowie No. 1 Mine. About 2.1 miles of an existing light use road will be upgraded and widened to access the new drill pad. There will be total of about 2.6 to 3.5 acres of surface disturbance, 2.1 to 3.0 acres for the regraded road and 0.5 acres for the drill pad. The drill hole will be about 1550 feet deep. The drill pad will be completely reclaimed and the light use road will be reclaimed to its original width. Most of the road is on land owned by BRL, while a short portion is on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The drill pad is on land whose surface is owned by BRL while coal is leased by BRL from the BLM. Depending on road conditions, access may be on public roads coming from Stephens Gulch road, from Garvin Mesa and on land managed by the BLM and USDA Forest Service. The Bowie Mine No. 1 is an underground coal mine located in Delta County, approximately 3 miles north of Paonia, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal and private, and the surface affected is Federal and private land. The perrnit azea encompasses approximately 8,541.00 acres. This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder. Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, aze on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203. Persons with an interest that maybe adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision.
