6. On sheet 5 of 5 of Drawing 2.05-M4, the natural stream symbol located in the
northwest corner of the IIW gob pile is shown to pass through the clean water
diversion ditch and onto the gob pile. Please revise the drawing to show that the
natural stream stops at the diversion ditch.
7. On sheet 5 of 5 of Drawing 2.05-M4, the east end of the IIW upper haul road
ditch is shown to travel uphill before it empties into IIW culvert 1. Please revise
the positions of these two ditch and culvert symbols shown on Drawing 2.05-M4,
sheet 5 of 5.
On sheet 5 of 5 of Drawing 2.05-M4, please add the permit boundary line to the
drawing and in the drawing legend.
9. On sheet S of 5 of Drawing 2.OS-M4, please add drainage symbols for the bench
ditches located on the IIW gob pile.
10. Because of the proximity of the railroad line to the Pond E concrete dam, the
Division believes that Pond E should be classified as a Class B dam, as defined in
Technical Release No. 60 (TR60) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, October
1985. As required in Rules 4.05.9(2)(d) and 4.OS.9(10), please provide Sedcad
designs that demonstrate that the emergency spillway of Pond E can pass the
precipitation event, with the required freeboazd, as defined in Table 2-S of TR60.
1 I. Because the height of the Pond E dam, as measured from the bottom of the
channel up to the emergency spillway invert, is ~Sfeet, Rule 4.05.9(3) requires
that the pond design be in compliance with C.R.S. 37-87-105. Please provide
proper documentation that the designs for Pond E have been filed at and approved
by the office of the state engineer.
12. Please demonstrate that the existing railroad culvert just below the Pond E dam
can pass the design precipitation event outflow from the emergency spillway.
cc: Sandy Brown
Byron Walker
c: /word/elkcreek/tr43 adegmemo 1
