Exhibit, E r.
• •
Skelton, Inc.
MLRH Permit Application
Shaffer Pit
Norwood, Colorado
EXHIBIT D
ieclamation Plan
1. The overburden to b.s replaced on the site will be the first
g lift and will be replaced to an average thickness of 1 foot
l! as availability of material dictates. The proposed slope
I of the area will be 5 to 1. Due to the contours of the
area as well as the utilization of the mined areas for
~ stockpiling of material, it is not feasible to reclaim the
area until all mining in the area is completed.
'. 2. The proposed maxim~im gradient of reclaimed slopes is 5:1.
This can be easil~r accomplished after mining because the
~ area is being levell.ed~out as the mining progresses.
r
E 3. The thickness of they topsoil Should be an average of twelve
t inches overall. There will be enough topsoil stockpiled to
~ accomplish this.
4. The Soil Conservation Service has recommended reseeding the
stockpile areas in the late fall/early winter. .This would
seem to apply to actual reseeding of the reclaimed area to
' obtain maximum gerrtiination and, hence, stability of the
~' soil. Chemical fertilizers will not be added, and the seed
will be planted with a drill.
~ 5. We will revegetate in the following manner:
1. Western N~heatgras5 4# per acre
2. Manchar Smooth Hrome 3# per acre
3. Crested Wheatgrass 2# per acre
9#`peryacre
The seeding rate per acre is less than recommended by the
Soil Conservation Service, but the PLS rate in his
recommendation is for seed which is being broadcast. This
rate would be cut in half if the seed were planted (as we
plan) with a drill. The area will be used far dryland
pasture upon reclamation, and the suggested grasses shown
above are very conducive to growth in a dryland type area.
6. The seed will be drilled.
~~ 7. Due to the application method and the time of year which the
seed will be planted, mulch will not be required.
8. No ponds, streams, roads or buildings will remain after
reclamation.
9. This portion not applicable.
r
10. Maximum as '.suggested.
li
~~
