• \
of the approved permit. The map was drawn based on site specific soil investigations by
• BMRI's soils consultant. Topsoil stockpiles aze shown on Figure C-1 of the approved permit
and updated information can be found in Figure 1 of the Stormwater Management Plan.
Since the soils have been previously salvaged, stockpiled, and the majority of reclamation has
been completed, the information that is requested in 6.4.20 (17) c does not appear appropriate or
necessary for the San Luis Project. For existing operations an alternative approach would seem
appropriate, especially sites such as the San Luis Project where active reclamation has been
ongoing for several years and revegetation has generally been successful.
Approximately 1.33 to 1.65 million cubic yazds of topsoil were salvaged and stockpiled during
the active mining phase of the San Luis Project.
17.0 WILDLIFE PROTECTION
The wildlife protection and mitigation measures are contained in the approved peranit as part of
Exhibit D and E. The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) was contacted as paR of the initial
• project permitting and their responses are discussed in Exhibit H and Responses to MLRD
Adequacy Letter dated February 15, 1989. BMRI has continued to maintain contact with the
DOW and will be sending them an updated copy of the ERP upon approval by the Division.
n
Baa(e Mountain Resources, lnc.
