<br />INTRODUCTION <br />This document is the permit renewal package prepared by the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology (the Division) for the Marr Strip Mine. This document includes: <br />1) the proposed decision to approve with stipulations the permit renewal application; <br />2) a summary that includes a history of the review of the permit application, a <br />description of the environment affected by the operation and a description of the mining <br />and reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made <br />as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed <br />information concerning the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of <br />the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal <br />mining and reclamation operations at the Marr Mine. The application was submitted by <br />Kerr Coal Company. The Mine will be operated by Kerr Coal Company. The mine is <br />on federal lands within Jackson County, Colorado. The legal description of the lands <br />included within the permit area is: <br />Township 9 North, Range 78 West of the 6th P.M., Section 22: NE 1/2, E 1/2 <br />NW 1/4, SE 1/2; Section 25: S 1/2 SW 1/4, NW 1/2 SW 1/2; Section 27: NE <br />1/2 NE 1/2 NE 1/2; Section 35: E 1/2 and portions of Section 15, 23, and 16. <br />Township 9 North, Range 79 West of the 6th P.M., portions of Sections 28, 29, 32 <br />and 33.
