COLORADO DEPARTMEM OF HEALTH, Water Quality Control Division
Rationale -Page 4, Permit No. CO-0034142
Allowable Instrecvn Total Ammonia
In order to insure the inrtrtam standard for un-ionized ammonia will be protected, ejjluent limitations jot rota!
anunonia were valuated. To do sa, the Division standardty uses the Colorado Anvnonia Model when
sufficiem stream and ejlluent pH and temperature data arc available. In this case, such data were not
available. It wat• therefore necessary to ust the results of regional analyses that have been performed for the .
emire State of Colorado.
From these analyses, the following Jnasimran allowable instream total amtnonio concentrations below the
discharge have b~:en estimated.
Table /I/ - 2 - A4aximum AUowabk /nsJnam Total Ammonia, mg/l as 1V (Chtronic Conditions)
16fonth... ..: .
Concenttn7ton, :ing/1.:';::.:..'.:: ; Montle::: ':: ::...':Concenttntion;: mg/1:
Jan 6.0 Jul 1.2
Feb 4.8 Aug 1.2
Mar 2.8 Sep 1.
Apr 2.0 Oct 1.1
May 1.
