December 23, 1999 ~ • Pnge 29
5. Discontinue injection into the solution mining well and balance the density of the
fluids in the well.
6. Pressure test all tubing, strings, and annular areas between well strings with
' nitrogen gas to hydrostatic pressure to ensure the mechanical integrity of the
tubing.
' 7. Perform a temperature log to determine if there is any significant temperature
change above the nahcolite-bearing zone.
' 8. Evaluate the results from these procedures to determine the best solution for
correcting the problem. The use of additional logging techniques may be required
' to accurately pinpoint any mechanical failures.
9. Notify the BLM and EPA of the results of the evaluation and the proposed
' corrective actions to be taken.
5.9.3 Process Monitoring
' If changes in physical parameters at the production stream indicate a formation failure,
cavity breach, or production well breach, the BLM and EPA will be notified within the next BLM
t working day and the following procedures will be initiated.
1. The well pressure, temperature, and flow rate instrumentation will be checked for
' accuracy.
2. The well valves will be checked for possible leakage.
' 3. Injection into the solution mining well will be discontinued and the density of the
Fluids in the well will be balanced.
' 4. All tubing, strings, and annular areas between well strings will be pressure tested
with nitrogen gas to hydrostatic pressure to ensure the mechanical integrity of the
' tubing.
5.
