Three new alluvial
monitoring wells (19-3, 21-5, and 28-1) were also constructed.
' In summary, the 25 well completions at the Piceance Site include three Dissolution Surface
I completions, six B Groove completions, six A Groove completions, six Uinta completions, and
four alluvial completions. Monitoring of the water supply well 20-8 (Uinta Formation) for water
I quality provides monitoring of changing conditions resulting from operation of the test facility.
Table 1 includes a complete list of the Piceance Site wells.
I 2.1.1 Parnc/lute Sile Groundwater Monitoring Locations
American Soda will use at least one monitoring well to monitor groundwater quality and
I water level at the Parachute processing site. The monitoring well will be completed at the base of
the Alluvial Aquifer to monitor for potential leakage from the process pond system. The
I monitoring well will be situated down-gradient of the proposed pond, between the pond system
and Parachute Creek.
I 2.1.3 Local Domestic Wel! Locations
Domestic wells included in this Water Monitoring Plan are two wells located along
I Piceance Creek, between the mouth of Horse Draw and the north edge of Section 15.One of the
domestic wells will be Horse Draw Well (formerly USBM O1 A) located near the abandoned Horse
Draw shaft, and the other will be Burke's Well, located downstream of the Yankee Gulch site.
2.2 Groundwater Monitoring Program
Groundwater monitoring will consist ofwater-level measurement and water-quality sample
collection and analysis. The sampling frequencies, sampling methods, and water-quality
parameters aze provided in this section. As described in Section 1.0, the groundwater monitoring
program is divided into two periods, a baseline period and the first 5 years of commercial
operations (operations period). The baseline data collection period includes monthly sampling
during 5 quarters preceding the startup of commercial operations as specified by the CDMG.
2.2.1 Water-Level Monitoring
Water level monitoring in all groundwater wells will be performed in accordance with the
procedures presented in Appendix B or in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation,
where automated water-level equipment is used.
Agapito Associates, ]nc.
