TRRPPER MINING INC TEL~303-824-4632 Rpr 23 96 10 27 No .001 P.02
Mr. Joe Dudash, CDMG
Re: Trapper Mine Repair Plan and
Schedule for Grouse Ponds Spillways
4/23/96, page 2
At the Grouse #1 outfall, the combination of higher than normal peak flow, inadequately
developed vegetation and a relatively steep spillway outfall wmbined to compromise the
erosion control at the spot where gullying occurred.
REPAIR PLAN AND SCHEDULE
Trapper will make every reasonable effort to have the erosion at Grouse Ponds # 1 and #2 spillway
outfalls repaired on or before May 10, 1996, weather pending. Wet weather could potentially
make it impossible to access the sites with necessary equipment, consequently setting back the
repair schedule.
Competent rock will be placed into the eroded portions of both spillway outfalls in order to stabi-
lize head-cutting and prevent additional erosion. The two outfalls will then be further stabilized as
follows:
Grouse Pond #1. LANDLOCK ECRM 450 synthetic erosion control fabric will be used
for the entire outflow of Grouse Pond #1. This fabric is a much more durable erosion con-
trol material than the Excelsior Blanket previously used. The characteristics of Landlock
450 are detailed in revision MR-141 which was approved on 11/1/95.
2. Grouse Pond #2. Excelsior Blanket will be extended from the point of previous termination
to the end of the spillway outfall. In addition, the last roll of Excelsior Blanket, at the point
where erosion occurred, will be replaced in order to create a more uniform blanket installa-
tion. This approach should control future erosion at this site given the relatively shallow
slope of the spillway outfall.
Please contact me if you approve of this plan and schedule or if you have any questions or
concerns.
Since~rely~
y~.'"_'
Forrest V.
