~~ ~ iii iiiiiiii
Ponds
Leonard Rice Consulting Water Engineers, Inc. evaulated ponds 9-P1,
9-P2, 9-P3, 5A-P2 and 5A-P3 using data supplied in the Empire Energy
application document and from field data obtained during their June, 1981
field work. A summary of their evaluation is attached.
Pond 9-P1 has a volume of 6.6 acre-feet, which for an inflow of 290 gpm
provides an average detention time of 5 days. It was not. possible to
ne the volume and detention time of ponds 9-P2 anc: 9-P3. Although
the detention provided by pond 9-P2 and 9-P3 can be considered to be
adequate for settling of the fine particles out of the water. It takes
_.j` approximately 56 minutes for the coagulant to settle out the fines.
q
l

-21-
