Past hydrologic monitoring as demonstrated in the 2005 Annual Hydrology Report,
indicate that there has been no significant impacts from mining. These wells included alluvial wells PAW-
S, PAW-6 and CCAW-l, and Deep Wells NM-20, 21, and 22 and SF-2. Wells SF-1 and NM-23, not
currently monitored, will also be reclaimed.
Alluvial well CCAW-1 was destroyed by Coal Bed Methane pipeline installation. [t is believed that the
casing was broken off near the surface and covered with dirt resulting from the pipeline excavation. An
attempt will be made, coordinated with the CBM developer, to locate the PVC well casing and abandon the
well. Due to the shallow completion (less than 35 feet) and the nature of the aquifer, the well is unlikely to
negatively impact the alluvial aquifer.
Another company has expressed an interest in acquiring the deep wells as potential monitoring wells for use
in pemlitting and developing another mining reserve. If this materializes, the Division will be notified, and
the bonding for the deep wells kept in force until ownership of the wells can be transferred to the new
permittee.
Due to winter weather and snow accumulation, these reclamation activities will be delayed. The Division
will be notified of the schedule regarding well site reclamation prior to start-up. Enclosed is the field data
from water monitoring activities completed this summer. A final water level measurement will be taken
prior to each well abandonment and provided to the Division with the fmal abandonment report. No
additional monitoring or reporting is planned.
SincerclY,
Ron Thompson
