PARTI
Page IS
Permit No. COG-500000
E. FOOTNOTES -APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES
g/ When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the samples shall be collected during Man:h, lone, September
and December, if a continual discharge occurs. if the discharge is intermittent, then samples shall be collected during
the period that discharge occurs. If the permittce, using the approved amlytical methods, monitor., any parameter
more frequently than required by this permit, they the results of such monitoring shall be included in the calculation
and reporting of the values required in the Discharge Monioring Report Form or other forms as required by the
Division. Such increased frequency shall also be indicated.
h/ Defuvtions of Sample Type
1. A 'canposile' sample, for monitoring requirements, is a minimum of four (4) grab sample: collated at equally
spaced two (2) hour intervals and proportioned according W flow.
2. A 'grab' sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single 'dip and take' sample.
3. An 'iastanfaneous' measurement, for monitoring requirements, is a single reading, observation, or
measurement performed on site.
4. A 'contintwus' measurement, for flow monitoring requirements, is a measurement obtained from en automatic
recording device which continually measures Flow.
5. A 'visual' observation, for oil end grease monitoring requirements, is observing the discharge to chak for the
presence of a visible sheen or Floating oil.
6. An 'in-situ' measurement, for monitoring requirements, is defined as a single reading, observation or
measurement takes in the field at the point of discharge.
7. A '24 hour composite' sample is a combination of at least eight (8) sample aliquots of at bast 100 milliliters,
collated at equally spaced intervals during the opereting hours of a facility over atwenty-four (24) hour period.
For volatile pollutants, aliquots mutt be combined in the laboratory immediately before analysis. The composite
must be flow proportional; either the time interval betwcen each aliquot or the volume of each aliquot must be
proportional to either the wastewater or effluent flow at the time of sampling or the total wastewater or effluent
flow since the collation of the previous aliquot. Aliquots may be collated manually or automatically.
i/ in the event ea oil sheen or floating oil is observed, a grab ample shall be collated, analyred, end reported on the
appropriate DMR or amual report. In addition, corrective action shall be taken immediately to mitigate the discharge
of oil and grease. A description of the corrective action taken should be included with the DMR ar mnual report.
j/ Where, based on a minimum of 5 samples, the permittce demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Wt~ter Quality Control
Division that We level of total dissolved solids (TDS) in the effluent can be calculated based upon be level of elatrical
conductivity, the permittee may measure and report TDS in terms of elatrical conductivity.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Representative Samolin¢
Samples and measurements taken as required herein shell be representative of the volume and nature of the monitored
discharge. All samples shall be taken at the monitoring points spaified in this permit and, unless otherwise spaified,
before the effluent joins or is diluted by any other westestream, body of water, or substance. Mordtoring points shall
not be changed without notification to and approval by the Division.
