Arizona g5ppt
teoz~ naszsa
r
The following is a summarization of our discussion of
January 26, 1990 concerning what additional monitors would
be necessary to further define baseline and during mining
hydrologic conditions at Peabody's Seneca II-W and Yoast
properties.
Seneca II-W
1. Baseline water flow and quality in the C05 pond
'>w ~ (Figure 1) drainage ai the point of the proposed pond
' - is requested. If true alluvium exists within a }
mile distance downstream of the pond, an alluvial
monitoring well within the § mile reach is requested.
P~soor cw~ cowv~Nr
w.,e..o owi.i.~
~ltlveo I_anln
~iECLAINATION ~IVISEOv
February 9, 1990
I ~ ~
2. Since baseline flow and quality data in the 009 and
010 (Figure 1) pond drainages has previously been
'~' obtained, it will suffice for the permit application.
"' However, if true alluvium exists within a } mile
distance downstream of the ponds, alluvial monitoring
wells within these § mile reaches are requested.
3. A stream monitoring station on Sage Creek below the
009 pond confluence is requested.
4. In the II-W South area, overburden, coal, and
untlerburden monitoring wells for the potential Wadge,
Sage Creek, and Wolf Creek pits are requested. Water
level, water chemistry, and aquifer characteristics
for one well completed in each unit in each of the
proposed mining areas was recommended as an approach
to determining the significance of these units as
aquifers and the potential for vertical leakance
between the units. Concerns regarding downgradient
