Dept. of Natural nasoarces
Dear Phil:
We have done some work concerning the flow measurements in Deep Creek. The form
we have devised will be used daily, or even twice daily, starting as soon as '..e
see water coming down the creek. 4Je hope to have quite a history of the flow into
Stollsteimer Creek out of Deep Canyon throughout the spring and into summer .and
fall.
If there is any other information you desire to have recorded on these forms, please
give Rarely Kroskob or rre a call. Also, if you would like copies of cur information.
forwarded to you on a trore frequent basis than monthly, let us know.
In case there are any doubts as to the meaning of our items listed on the form, let
me give you a quick explanation. They are as follows:
Velocity, Inlet - Measured and calculated using Teledyne~urley #622
Current Meter and accompanying velocity chart.
Velocity, Outlet - Same as above
Flow Rate - Calculated from average velocity and area.
Velocity, Estimated - In cases where death is too low to use current
meter, velocity is estimated using floating ooject
timed from inlet to outlet.
Velexity, 3 ft. before inlet - Same as velocity, inlet
Depth, ~ ft. before inlet - Depth measured using calibrated stick.
We hope this will satisf• all the requirements of t<he mine concerning this area
of measurement. If not, please let us know.
5' cerely,
CCU
r ~ linton
Director of Quality Control
LCC/pe
cc: D. Smaldone
File
