Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed the Quarterly Pond Inspection Reports submitted by Bowie
Resources, LLC (BRL) for the Bowie No. 1 Mine permit for the first quarter of 2006.
The pond inspection reports aze dated Mazch 30, 2006. It is apparent from the reports
that maintenance was and may still be needed at two of the ponds -the Loadout Pond and
the ROM pond. The ROM pond report shows a sediment level of 90.00' and a required
cleanout elevation of 90.10'. The Loadout Pond report shows a required cleanout
elevation of 96.00', and a sediment level of 96.20'. The reports do not indicate whether
maintenance is scheduled for either pond. Please advise the Division of the current
condition of these two ponds and, if the ponds have not been cleaned, include a
timeframe for the necessary sediment removal. BRL should ensure that future reports
that indicate potential problems always include plans and timeframes for maintenance.
Should you have any questions or need any additional information regazding this letter,
please contact me at the address and telephone number above, or at
susan. bur¢mai er~astate. co. us.
Sincerely,
Susan L.
