DISCUSSION
According to the Mountain Coal Company discharge permit (CO-0038776), an acute WET test is
failed whenever the LCsr,, which represents an estimate of the effluent concentration which is
.r lethal to 50% of the test organisms in the time period prescribed by the test, is found to be less
"f than or equal to 100% ellluent.
By this definition, the results of this bioassay indicate that elllueot from outfall 013 is not
acutely toxic to fathead minnows or Daphnia magna. Therefore, Mountain Coal Company is
.. in compliance with the acute WET portion of its Colorado State Discharge Permit for the second
quarter of 2000.

I~
4
3
COM MERCIAL TE STING 8r ENGINEERING CO.
~F.~ L*~
Original Watermarketl For Your Protection
