BOWIE RESOURCES LTA.. BOWIE #Z MINE
FOURTH QUARTER 2001 DISCHARGE MONITORING REPORTS.
To whom it may concern;
Find enclosed completed Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) forms addressing the fourth quarter 2001 for the
above referenced mine.
In a letter dated October 31, 2001, Bowie Resources Ltd. (BRL) informed the Department of Health that it had failed
the required WET test and one accelerated test for the third quarter of 2001 repori9ng period. As a result of this
failure, BRL elected to proceed directly to a Preliminary Toxicity Identification (PTI) Test. Samples were collected
on November 26, 2001, and submitted to Commercial Testing and Engineering, Company (CT&E) in Denver.
As found in the CT&E, PTI report, there is a strong probability that the total dissolved solids aze contributing to the
chronic fatality of the Ceriodapbnia dubia. (PTI report is included in this submittal). Bowie Resources Ltd. has
concluded that any remedial action that could be taken to resolve the total dissolved solids problem would be cost
prohibitive. Therefore, Bowie Resources Ltd. is requesting the Depamnent of Health for relief by eliminating future
WET testing of the Ceriodaphnia dubia.
Your assistance in ganting this relief would be greatly appreciated. Also included in this submittal are the results of
the accelerated testing and PTI testing as well as other Dischazge Monitoring Reports. If you have any questions or
concerns regazdmg this submittal please feel free to contact me at (970) 929-5257,
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Wm.
