E. of our staff- <br />" accompanied..me on-my visit to fhe Animas Mine. His purpose was <br />to re-certify the sediment pond. <br />_,,,,,_„After;~„~eviewing the permit and;~neasurin'g the pond he concluded <br />.that the pond was not certifiable due to t'he amount of sediment. <br />Upon notification, an officer of Sundance's parent company <br />approved expenditures for sediment removal. <br />r# <br />Wet-weather, mostly 'snow; whicht3made footing'--for the crane <br />treacherous prevented cleaning%in December: An attempt was made <br />on.January 7th to .break through the ice on the pond and begin <br />'r';a` sediment removal. Although the ice was successfully broken, our <br />equj~pment:was unable to dig 'the near-surface sediment.
