Room 215 <br />aECEiv~~ <br />AUG 2 21997 <br />Division of Minerals a ~d~togy <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Cresson Project, DMG Permit No. M-80-244, CDPS Permit No. CO-0043648 <br />Use of Pond N6 Water for Dust Suppression <br />Dear Mr. Keffelew; <br />pF' C020 <br />~'o~ 4 <br />Ne~ <br />~ ra ]6 ~ <br />Colorado Department <br />of Public Health <br />and Environment <br />The Water Quality Control Division has no objections to dte Division of Minerals and Geology's <br />approval of the use of Pond q6 water for the purpose of dust suppression, provided that dust <br />suppression operations are carried out such that there are no discharges to surface waters of the State. <br />However, it should be noted that the Pond !t6 water is relatively high in nitrate, which in some cases is <br />currently used, and in other cases may in the future be used as an indicator parameter for active mine <br />drainage.
