Long
Division Director
Thank you for your Yearly Impoundment Inspection Report, submitted under your letter of April 9, 2002.
The report has been reviewed, and the following adequacy issues have been identified. Please supplement
the report with the requested information.
Rule 4.05.9(]5) Certified inspection reports required by 4.05.9(14) for all impoundments shall include
discussion of~ Rule 4.05.9(15)(6) Existing and required monitoring procedures and instrumentation; The
report states that there are no required monitoring procedures or instrumentation. However, quarterly and
annual inspections are required and have been accomplished. Please cite monthly and yearly
inspections as monitoring procedures.
Rule 4.05.9(IS)(c) The depth and elevation of any impounded waters at the time of the certified report;
Actual depths of water in the impoundments and elevations of water surfaces were not found in the report.
The report does state that the long pond and treatment ponds T-1 and T-2 were full. Depths reported for
the long pond and ponds T-1 and T-2 appear to be as-built values rather than depths at the time of
inspection. The pictures indicate some water in Pond 9 and the Refuse Pond. Please add the depths and
elevation of impounded waters to the report.
Rule 4.05.9(15)(d) Existing storage capacity of the impoundment; and As-built storage capacities are
reported. However, this entry needs to report existing storage capacity. It would be as-built less occupied
(accumulated) sediment storage. Please add existing storage capacities to the report.
Please call me if you have any questions.
Yours truly,
.>~ ~ ~~~
Byro G.
