The letter mentions one
concern regarding the subject discharge monitoring report (DMR), which indicates that on May 3`d you
observed a flow of 0.007 cfs at the Pond F outfall during an inspection, while our DMR for that month
indicated no flow for the month.
TCC visually monitors our CDPS sites on a weekly basis, collecting data/water samples as appropriate. We
also try to check sites immediately after heavy precipitation events. Our field notes indicate that some of
the CDPS sites were monitored on May 4`h and the remainder on May 6`h. Pond F was monitored on May
6`h" At that time, no flow was observed coming from the Pond F culvert leading to the outfall flume. As I
recall, there may have been some standing water going up to the Outfall flume, so it may very well have
flowed for a limited time earlier that week. Historically Pond F exhibits limited flow, usually for a few
weeks coinciding with spring melt. Note that Pond F did exhibit low to trace flows for two weeks in June
(see attached June 2005 DMR), at which time water quality samples were collected and analyzed.
Regards,
Tw/lentymile Coal Company
Brian A.
