Additional Monitorine: Instream Flow Measurements and Total Hardness <br />Monitorin¢ <br />These instream monitoring requirements were added in order to verify the <br />assumptions made for determining the limitations of this permit. This <br />includes installing a flow measuring device in Coon Track Creek above the <br />Caribou Mine discharge and monitoring for Total Hardness (as CaC03) in <br />Coon Track Creek at a point below the Cross Mine discharge. As indicated <br />in Part I.B.12 of the permit, the pexmittee shall work with the Division <br />in defining these two monitoring locations before they are established, <br />and the final locations shall be subsiitted to the Division in a facility <br />diagram. <br />Total Hardness shall be monitored on a monthly basis for at least one <br />year. The instream flows shall be monitored routinely on a weekly basis, <br />preferably during non-stormwater event periods, but at least 16 hours <br />after any rainfall events. <br />In addition, the annual low instream flow shall be determined one time <br />during December, as based upon several measurements of daily flow taken <br />during the week. The individual details of this one-time annual low flow <br />determination will need to be established with the Division prior to this <br />study being initiated. <br />H.
