The area is composed of a sagebrush-grass community with a belt of scattered
cottonwood trees along the river.
Assessment of Impact: (Pti•ry be attached)
The large size of this operation and prolonged mining use warrant that certain
precautions be taken to er~sur°c continued use by the bald eagle.
There is a roost site in Section 11 (south side of river) and a hunting perch
in Section 12 (south side). If the recommendations listed below are followed,
the bald eagles will most likely continue using the two sites and overall
impacts to wildlife will be minor.
Reclamation/Mitigation Recommendations: (May be attached}
1. A berm 150-200' should be left between the pit and the river to provide
a buffer zone to reduce disturbance to the eagles.
2. No cottonwood trees should be removed in this buffer zone. Any cotton-
woods removed outside this zone should be replaced on a l:l basis.

3. Revegetate the area with ~~~rtive shrubs and grasses.
