<br />EXHIBIT J <br /> <br />Vegetation Information* <br />The vegetation on tide permit area and adjacent lands has been classified as a Flo untain <br />Outsash range site. Potential ~:agetation on this site consists of approximately thirty (30J <br />percent cover dominated by blue grama, Indian ricegrass, western ~.aheatgrass, needle and <br />thread, winterfat, and founaing saltbush. Existing vegetation is not indicative of the site <br />potential. Successive years o~ over crazing have caused ecological deterioration and tht <br />invasion of less desirable species sucn as rabbitbrush, russianth istle, and prick lypear. <br />At present, the vegetation on the site consists of approximately twenty-five (25) percent <br />cover, generally less than three (3) feet in heiyht, made up of the following grasses, forbe <br />and shrubs: <br />Grasses <br />Blue grama <br />Sand dropseed <br />Western wheatgrass <br />Needle and thread <br />Indian ricegrass <br />Bottlebrush squirreltail <br />Fendlers threeawn <br />Tunble grass <br />Shrubs <br />Tall rabbitbrush <br />Threadleaf green rabbitbrush <br />Forbs <br />Blueburr Stickseed <br />Plains pricklypear <br />Pinnate tansymustard <br />Br act less stickleaf mentzelia <br />Tufted evening primrose <br />Scarlet globemallow <br />Pony beebalm <br />Buckwheat <br />Phlox <br />Russianthistle <br />Vegetation on the site is generally uniform ;rith no significant variations due to <br />soils or topography. The major limiting Factor for plant gro~:rth on the site is water. <br />Total annual hay production ranges from 300 to 800 pounds per acre air dry ~Ni th an av- <br />erage of approximately 600 pounds per acre air dry. Existing carrying capacity is ap- <br />proximately one (1) co~.a/calf unit for every forty-eight (48) acres grazed annually. <br />* Vegetation information compiled in consultation with the Soil Conservation Service, <br />Center Soil Conservation District. <br />
