These <br />calculations are attached. In summary the conservative theoretical addition of nitrate to the <br />ground water system at the monitoring points would be a maximum of 3.2 mg/L to 0.27 mg/L <br />NO,. It should be pointed out that these values were derived using the maximum nitrate <br />concentration (40. l mg/L) from 16 contact tests. The average nitrate concentration from these <br />tests was 17.55 mg/L; less than half the value used for the calculations. <br />These calculations demonstrate that use of Pad 3 material for road base would have no <br />detrimental impact to ground water quality in the area. Therefore CC&V reiterates its request <br />for approval to use the Pad 3 material for road base within the mine permit boundary. <br />CC&V will also seek separate approval from the Department of Health through a modification <br />to our Storm Water Permit. <br />Thank you for your continued assistance. <br />Sincerely, <br />Scott C.
