conductance will average 1250 umhos/cm, and the total dissolved
solids will average 820 mg/1. Total iron concentrations will
average 0.8 mg/1 and total manganese concentrations will
average 0.015 mg/1. The sodium absorption ratio will average
31.3. The water will not be acceptable for use as a domestic
water source or a flood irrigation source due to ~;alinity
levels. The TDS also exceeds the MLRD recommended suspect
level for domestic use of 250 mg/1 and the MLRD recommended
suspect level of 500 mg/1 for flood irrigation.
Longwall and retreat mining at the Golden Eagle Mine
will result in subsidence. The subsidence associated with
longwall mining has a high likelihood of occurring immediately
during and following mining. There is a possibility that
subsidence will occur following mining, particularly in areas
which are influenced by water, or areas in which the weight of
the overlying surface changes. Water sources could include
water from flooding of the workings or from infiltration of
water associated, with residential development. There may be
an interruption of surface drainage patterns due to the •
unequal subsidence between the centers of the longwall panels
and the edges. Evidence for interruption of. surface drainage
patterns would consist of ponding of water within stream
channels associated with subsequent drop features, dis:Location
of stream channels, or decreased or norr-existent flows.
Monitoring- A monthly surface and groundwater
monitoring program was initiated in February 1984 to gather
baseline and operational hydrologic dada to assess potential
effects of mining. This program was based on stipulations
placed on the permit. Following the collection of one year of
data, Wyoming Fuel Company requested a reduction of the
monitoring program. This was approved as outlined on Table 22,
Hydrology Monitoring Requirements and Table 23, Water Quality
Parameter Sample Suites. This reduction eliminated
:.
2.05-47b (Revised 04/27/94)
