Box 583
Conifer, CO 80433
The site will be mined for gravel in areas outside of the wetlands illustrated in the Pre-mining
Map. Similarly, the Pre-mining Map shows areas of previous gravel mining and topsoil salvage.
Mining will proceed in an east-northeast direction. Approximately 70,000 tons of gravel will
be extracted annually to a depth of approximately 15 feet. The approximate duration of the
project is ]0 years. The plant site (see enlarged mining plan on the following page) will be the
area of gavel sorting and washing. Processing and support facilities will include one portable
screen, two portable stacking conveyors, one diesel generator, one mobile service trailer for
storing oil, a 1000-gallon diesel tank with electric pump, and a mobile office. The diesel tank
will be surrounded by a sand berm to protect against oil and gas leaving the immediate site in
the case of an accidental spill. Wash water will be drawn from the on-site stream, utilized to
process the gravel, then directed through a series of three settling ponds before being returned
[o the stream. Mining will initially begin in the northern sector of the site using one D-8 dozer
and one 3-4 yard loader. Following completion of mining here, the southern sector will be
mined. Mining in the southern sector will follow the same plan as outlined above. Topsoil
salvage sites will be located in close proximity to the plant site to minimize disturbance during
the mining operation.
i n~~w! 4
