finding outcrops and measuring dips, it is reasonably certain that
• the strike and dip is E-W, 3° to 10° N.
Topography and Drainage. The area is oriented about N20W and
is astride a slight drainage defile with approximately the same
orientation. Topographic contours are almost normal to the
orientation of the stockpile. The slope of the ground surface in
this area is about 15.50 (6.5:1).
Comments and Evaluation. This area has a natural subdrain
into the drainage that it straddles. Berms or keyways can grade
down to this subdrain and offset the tendency for the stockpile to
fail because of over-saturated material. It is likely that bedrock
will be encountered during site preparation.
4.4.8 Stoc}
• the SE sec.
Rock T
or near the
for several
:pile Area H. This area is about 1500 feet northwest of
corner of sec. 17., and includes about 4.5 acres.
/pe. Interbedded sandstone and shale bedrock occur at
surface. This bedrock will probably be well weathered
feet.
Structure. The site is about 1300 feet east of the axis of
the Fish Creek anticline. The strike and dip should be about E-W,
<3°N.
Topography and Drainage. The area is oriented about N65W,
approximately normal to the topographic contours. The surface
slope of the upper area is about 12.50 (8:1); slope in the lower
part is about 17; (6:1). The site is on the north slope of a high
topographic point about 80 to 150 feet south of a northwestward-
oriented drainage defile.
•
33
