DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY <br />1313 Sherman St, Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />In response to the letter stating the adequacy review comments for the Stout -Amick Pit <br />File No. M-1981-275: <br />Following are the corrections and or additional information requested. <br />1. Rule 1.6.5 (2): See enclosures. <br />2. Rule 6.4.3 Exhibit C: See enclosed corrected map. There are cross fences used <br />for pasturing cattle currently in the permit area. These and other man made <br />structures that are within 200 feet of the permitted area are owned by the owner of <br />the land to be permitted and create no conflict of interest. <br />3. Rule 6.4.4 Exhibit D: As stated in exhibit G there is no ground water present in <br />the mining area. No water diversions are needed in the mining area. The surface <br />drainage discussed in exhibit G refers to natural run off that might occur with <br />heavy rain or snow. Should this become a problem, it would be controlled by <br />diversion ditches that could be put in place in the area designated for stockpile <br />and plant to insure that run off would be controlled to prevent unwanted erosion. <br />Considering that most of the slopes face south and west, run off should not be a <br />problem. <br />4. In the original application it states that the maximum area to be disturbed at any <br />one time is 25 acres. That information is still correct. <br />5. The overburden consists of subsoil of a clay base with some gravel present and <br />runs from 6inches to 4 feet deep depending on the area to be mined. The seam of <br />gravel is primarily river gravel and varies in depth from fifteen to twenty feet with <br />the depth decreasing from South to North. <br />6. Rule 6.4.5. Exhibit E: The land is currently used to graze cattle in the early spring <br />and for feeding cattle hay in the winter. The land owned by Russell Ranches to <br />the East of the permit area is also used for general grazing of livestock. The land <br />to the North of the permit area is owned by Diana Watson and is also used for <br />general grazing of livestock. Once reclamation is complete, the area will be used <br />for general agriculture purposes, specifically grazing of livestock. <br />Reassessment of plants for reclamation: Since this will be a winter feeding <br />ground for cattle and general grazing for livestock, no native shrubs will be <br />included.
