Fountain Colony Pit (File: M-87-171)
Dear Mr. Dillie:
This property is located within the municipal limits of the City of Fountain. Therefore, the EI Paso
County Planning Department has no formal comment from a land use approval perspective.
However, we do have the following comments with respect to the updated letter from R. D. von
Engeln of Fountain Colony Investment Company, which accompanied the December 20, 1994, notice
to our Board of County Commissioners:
1) Our current update of the E/ Paso County Master Plan /or the Extraction of Commercial
Mineral Deposits is still in process. No formal action has been taken with respect to this
update.
2) Preliminary findings from the update process do support the conclusion that permitted reserves
of hard rock quarry aggregate in EI Paso County are fairly limited. This County's permitted
reserves of unconsolidated gravels appear to be more substantial. These reserves appear to
be confined to a limited number of sites.
3) i+s of finis date, this roe is included in Ei 'raso Gounry's caicuiations of permitted sand ana
gravel reserves.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application.
I er y,
Car F.
