2.05.2 Operation Plan - Estimated Area
for Life of Operation
~Sunland Mining Corporation intends to recover all
presently held reserves and any reserves squired in the
future which are adjacent to our presently held reserves by
underground mining methods.
Extraction of these reserves will be accomplished by
the most cost-efficient technology available within the
framework established by the reserve base held; the coal
market situation; and the regulatory stipulations in
effect.
From our present viewpoint in time, and considering
the nature of the coal deposits in our area, it appears
that room and pillar mining with secondary recovery within
the framework established by subsidence control will be the
mining method employed.
More specifically, present plans call for the
continued operation of our present mixing equipment:
Continuous Miners / Rubber tired Shuttle Cars / Conveyor
Be1t.Haulage / and Trackless Supply Haulage. Present plans
call for the extraction of reserves by access from the
present Apex ~2 portal. This portal and the associated coal
handling and support facilities have been previously
constructed and are presently in use. This is the basis on
• which the present permit application is being submitted.
Which is: all proposed surface disturbance has already
occured and will continue to be used.
As long as the Apex 02 portals are used for mining
access, no additional surface area will be disturbed. There
are many .factors which might necessitate the future
construction of a new portal. Certainly, all factors
involved need be carefully evaluated in light of
environmental restrictions. Sunland Mining Corporation is
presently not prepared to address specific site selection
and mitigation measures. However, additional disturbance
due to another portal is, at least, a remote possibility.
r
~2~
