date at the site consists of the following :
g
Area of finished pond surface - 26 . 2 A.
Area in temporary ponds used in
conjunction with operations - 12 . 8 A.
Total area of exposed ground
water table 39. 0 A.
This exposed area will increase based on current
predictions from the present 39. 0 A. to the total
development area of 98 . 1 acres during the next
three years or so .
Current rate of water loss to
evaporation - 39 X 2. 5 = 97 . 5 A-ft/yr.
Ultimate rate of water loss to
evaporation - 98 . 1X2 . 5 =245 . 3 A-ft/yr.
The historic consumptive use under the existing
well decree is determined from calculations using the
modified Blaney-Criddle formula and from data provided
by the U. S. Soil Conservation Service for a low lying
area with a relatively high water table and growing
meadow grasses , some sedges , and other wetland plants .
This use has historically occurred on a 72 A. area in
accordance with the aforementioned well decree during
a normal growing season for this latitude . The total
consumptive use from Soil Conservation Service data is :
Grass Consumptive Use 26 . 17 inches
Effective Precipitation 6. 62 inches
Net Consumptive Use 19. 55 inches
Therefore , the total consumptive use for 72 acres
is 72 X 19. 55 12 = 117 . 3 A-ft . As a result , at total
development as now planned, there is a requirement for
additional water rights for augmentation of the total
evaporation losses of 245 . 3 A-ft. minus the historic
consumptive use of 117 . 3 or 128 A-ft . The augmentation
water requirement for current development of 39. 0 A.
of water surface area, or 97 . 5 A-ft . /year, can be met
when the plan for augmentation utilizing the change of
use of the existing decree is approved by the Water Court .
-4-
