The soil at this particular site is a Tine gravelly sandy loam.
An interpretation sheet is attached givibg the description and the natural
vegetation of this soil.
It is suggested that the sloping areas be sloped to a 3 to 1 slope or preferr-
ably flatter. At least a 3 inch cover of topsoil be placed on the disturbed
areas and mixed with the underlying materail.
The species best suited and readily available from a commercial seed dealer
are:
Crested Wheatgrass 6 pounds per acre
Luna Pubescent Wheatgrass 12 pounds per acre
Yellow blossom Sweet Clover 1 pound per acre.
The above stated seeding rates are for seeding with a drill. If the are is
broadcast seeded these rates should be doubled. Cover seeds ~ to yz inch
deep. If broadcast the seeding sould be hand raked to get adequate cover
on the seed. Late fall seeding would be the most desirable.
There is the problem of trashand refuse from the sawmill that will need to
be buried, hauled off and/or burned to prepare this area for serege8htion.
L
,/
Ly R. 1leale~ _
District no servationist
