1979 Interim Proeram Permit
• To comply with the requirements of the Interim Mining and Reclamation program established
through the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division, an application was submitted to allow
existing activities at the site. The application was approved as Permit 79-57. The permit only
addressed activities associated with the exploration operations to be conducted at the Munger
Canyon Mine.
1981 Permanent Program Permit
An application to conduct mining operation for Munger Canyon was submitted [o CMLR under
the guidelines of the permanent program. The application addressed mining activities for the five
year permit term and allowed construction of an upgraded mine road and a waste rock disposal area.
Expansion of the mine site by tilling the valley to the north of the initial mine bench was also
permitted. The baseline data was collected and facility designs were established for the areas
effected.
During the application review process a joint venture company was formed to develop the mines.
The partnership consisted of Loma Mining Company, a subsidiary of Sheridan; and Mack Fuel
Supply, a subsidiary of Colorado-Ute Electric Association, Inc. The partnership company was Salt
Creek Mining Company.
1982 Permit Revision
Life of mine support facilities for both Munger and McClane Canyon mines were permitted
through revision to the existing Munger Canyon Mine Permit. A central facilities area was
established to provide support for both mines. The facilities to be located at the central area
included buildings, supplies, coal washing, refuse disposal, and transportation systems. The revision
is contained in Volumes VI and VII of the application. Salt Creek Mining Company was the
operator of the mine during the 1982 permit term.
1987 Permit Renewal
During the later part of the 1987, Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. transferred its interest in Loma
Mining Company to Mack Fuel Supply, Inc. The project was then 100% controlled by Colorado-Ute
Electric Association, Inc. through is Mack Fuel Supply subsidiary. No mining activity took place
during the 1987 permit term. The activities associated with the mine were mainly maintenance of
the underground portions of the mine and environmental maintenance and upgrading.
. 1992 Permit Renewal
M~ Page 1-3 10 - 13 -- 00
