SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATION
P550
The wmposite turf reinforcement mat (C-TRM) shall be a machine-produced mat of 100% UV stabilized polypropylene Sber matrix
incorporated into a pennanentthree-dimensional turf reinforcement matting.
The matrix shall be evenly distributed across the entve width of the matting and stitch bonded between the bottom and middle ulna heavy
duty UV stabilized nettings with 0.30 x 0.50 inch (1.27 x 1.27 cm) openings and then covered by an ultra heavy duty UV stabilized
nettings with 0.50 x 0.50 inch (1.27 x i.27 cm) openings. The middle, dramatically corrugated (crimped) netting shalt form prominent
closely spaced ridges across the entire width of the mat. The three nets shall be stitched together on I.SO inch (3.81 cm) centers with UV
stabilized potypropylene thread to form a permanent three-dimensional turf reinforcement matting.
Thiclmess
Resiliency
Density
Mass per Unit Area
Porosity
Open Voltnne/Unh Area
Stiffiness
L~ht Penetration
UV Stability
MD Tensile Strength
MD Elongation
TD Tensile Strength
TD Elongation
Test Method
ASTM D6525
ASTM D6524
ASTM D792
ASTMD6366
ECTC Guidelines
ECTC Guidelims
ASTM DI388/ECI'C
ECTC Guidelines
ASTM D4335•
ASTM D6818 [ASTM D5035]
ASTM D6818 [ASTM D5035]
ASTM D6818 [ASTM D5033]
ASTM D6818 [ASTM D5033]
Tvoical
0.76 m (1930 mm)
95
0.328 or/hP (0.913 g/cm')
21.45 orJyd' (728 g/ro')
96
122,906 irP/yd' (1,684,589 cm'/rte
36627 oz-m (4,087,934 mgcm)
16%
100%
763 lbs/ft (11.15 kN/m) (1381 Ibs/ft (20.15 kN/m)]
10 % [13 %]
113416s/ft (1655 kN/m) [15231bs/ft(22?3 kN/m)]
11% [13 %]
•ASTM D1682 (4 inch strip) Tensile Strength and percent Strength Retention of material following 1000 hrs exposure in Xenon-Arc Weatherometer.
MD-Machine direction
TD -Transverse direction
Bench Scale Testingt
Teat Method-Descri lion Parameters Results
ECTC Method 2 -Determination of SO mm (2 in)'hr for30 min Soil loss ratio' = 10.79
d RECP'
il
bili
unvegetate
s a
ty to protect so 100 mm (4 in)/Itr for 30 min Soil loss ratio' = 9.98
from rain splash and associated runoff
ISO mm (6 in}4tr for 30 min Soil loss redo' = 9.53
ECTC Method 3 -Determination of Shear. 4.48 lbs/R for 30 min Soil bss: 262g
t
d RECP'
bili
t
il
unvegeta
e
ty
o protect so
s a Shear. 5.14 Ibs/ft far 30 min Soil loss: 4458
from hydraulically-induced shear stress.
Failure criteria = 0.50 inch soil loss Shear. 3.64 Ibs/ft for 30 min Soil loss: 643g
Shear at 0.50 inch soil loss (4508) 5.7 lbsNN
ECTC Draft Method 4-Determination of Top soil; Fescue (Kentucky 31); 21 day °
Percent improvememt = 354 /°
temporary RECP performance m encouraging incubation 27° C t 2° & approximately (increased biomass)
seed germination and plant growth SOYo RH
• Soil Loss Ratio =Soil Loss with Bare Soil /S oil Loss with RECP {NOTE: Soil loss based on re ion anal sis
,I ~
u
fBemch Scale Performance Testing
Bench scale tests are index property tests.
