We also
discussed additional issues regarding wildlife and revegetation which
were brought to your attention in a letter of February 10, 1983, also
from Jim Herron. I have summarized my understanding of our discussion
below. Items we discussed in a phone conversation on April 6, 1983 are
also reflected in this letter.
Completeness Issues
• The completeness letter noted that sample adequacy had not been met
for production and that an estimate of tree density for the aspen type
had not been provided.
affected area.
You have proposed that herbaceous production be resampled this
summer 1n all vegetation types, and vegetation cover be resampled in the
aspen type. Herbaceous production will be estimated by clipping randomly
located m2 plots. Production cages will be set out prior to the
grazing season; a maximum of 50 samples will be collected in sagebrush
and mixed brush affected areas and 30 samples will De collected in
reference areas. The access road corridor will not be Included in the
sampling. A maximum of 30 cover and production samples will be required
in the aspen affected area, due to the limited extent of the type in the
Aspen density will be estimated by a 50 x 5m belt transect method.
A maximum sample size of 30 transects was agreed upon.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
