Seco and its alluvium. Otherwise, the mass balance analysis underpredicts the
total loading from West Pit to the luto Seco system which, it turn, allows for a
greater loading from Discharge Point 001.
Response:
The primary water management objective of the TR-026 water management plan
is to modify the hydrologic system in the vicinity of the West Pit to eliminate the
flow of groundwater from the West Pit into the adjacent Rito Seco alluvial
aquifer. BMRI has received fmal approval of the TR-026 water management plan
from the DMG. As noted previously, the hydraulic gradient has been reversed
such that there is no mass loading to the Rito Seco from the seepage front because
the flow of groundwater from the West Pit has been eliminated through the
implementation of the TR-026 water management plan.
Comment:
20. Section VI.A.4.c, page 14, table
The acute and chronic Q values are reversed (compaze to Section III.B.2). The Q3
data presented in this table aze also incorrect. Is this error propagated throughout
the entire report?
Q1 only includes flow derived from Dischazge Point 001. See Comment Number
19 regazding the inclusion of seepage front in a complete analysis of the impact of
West Pit dischazge on the Rito Seco system.
Response:
See the response to Comment Number 19.
Comment:
21. Section VI.A.4.d, page 14, Item (i) and pace 15, first pazagraph
The wording in this section is very confusing. Our interpretation of item (i) on
page 14 is that the activity does not result in significant degradation because it is
not diluted by 100 to 1 or more at low flow. However, the statement on page 15
indicates that item is (i) is not applicable since the dilution ratio is less than 100 to
1. We believe that Item (i) is applicable and should be considered in the
antidegradation review.
Bat(!e Mountain Resources, /nc. HSl GeoTrans
25 July 2/, 1000
