and final land use will apply to the facilities as the surface mine azea. The access road and
St. Chazles River Bridge will be left in place for the benefit of landowners. The proposed
post-mining land use for the project site is similar to its .current use: shortgrass
prairie/grazing and wildlife habitat. The major ephemerae drainages will be re-established
in approximately their current locations.
MONITORING
Rio Grande proposes to work with the Division to establish representative reference areas
for evaluation of vegetation success and bond release. Follow-up inspections will be
performed afrer completion of reseeding, and seeding areas, relative cover and density,
eroded areas, and noxious weed infestations will be evaluated. Problem aeeas will be
identified and failed seeded areas may be reseeded until the desired permanent vegetation
establishment is achieved.
