• EXHIBIT C - PREMINING AND MINING PLAN MAPS OF
AFFECTED LANDS
Exhibit C-1, Surface Ownership and Utilities .(with its index), illustrates surface.
ownership for the property controlled by Rio Grande and for the property within 200 feet
of the Rio Grande boundary. In addition, it shows the location of utilities within the
property and along the railroad right-of--way.
Exhibit C-2, Premining and Mining Plan Map, illustrates the following:
• Existing topography and names and locations of creeks, roads,. railroads, and
buildings.
• The location of the proposed road and railroad spur to access the plant site.
• The- proposed plant site and fill area (for relocating excess excavated construction
soils).
• The property and resource boundaries
• The proposed surface mine area and production sequence.
• The location of the proposed bridge to be constructed over the St. Charles River.
• The proposed permit boundary.
• The total area within the proposed permit boundary is approximately 2500 acres. The
disturbed land within this boundary (after 50 years of operations) totals approximately
895 acres, as summazized below:
Surface Mine (50 yeazs) 737 acres
Plant (inc. Fill Area) '140 acres
Railroad Spur 8 acres
Access Road 10 acres
TOTAL 895 acres
Note: Due to changes in deposition, limestone quality, and market conditions, mining azeas may change
slightly during [he life of the operation. In addition, project life may exceed 50 yeazs.
As discussed in Exhibit J, Vegetation Information, the site consists of flat rangeland with
native vegetation. The vegetation type is primarily shortgrass prairie dominated by
buffalo grass, blue grama, and few low shrubs and forbs. Ground cover is estimated at 60
percent grasses and approximately 10 percent forbs. Some of the native vegetation in the
project area has been disturbed by grazing which has allowed the establishment of some
weed species. No known populations of threatened, endangered, or' special-concern
species or critical habitat are located within the project boundaries.
Other than the buried and overhead utilities there are no significant permanent or man-
• made stmctures within 200 feet of the affected land.
AppExhibiaA-T-APP(I180)AevB/January'17, 2002 C_1
