Lnchhead
EieCUhoP Director
Michael B Long
Orvision DireUOr
The Division of Minerals and Geology received your technical revision (TR-32) addressing
stipulation #33 of the permit, and providing postmining drainage designs for the Seneca II Mine
(C-80-005). The revision was deemed complete for purposes of filing on May 14, 1998. The
Division has a number of adequacy questions that must be addressed prior to approval of the
revision;
Seneca revised the postmining road location under this technical revision to facilitate the
location of the drainage channels. Please note that the final location of the road must be
approved by the Division, and meet the requirements of Rule 2.05.4(2). This issue was
previously addressed as stipulation #32 of the Seneca II permit renewal. The postmining
road location is an important factor for the location of numerous drainage channels. Prior
to approval of this revision, Seneca should submit a request from the landowner in
writing to retain the road, as well as submit the information required under Rule
2.05.4(2).
2. Seneca did not depict a drainage channel or provide designs fora 1200 foot segment of
road ditch between culverts 19A and 24A. Please include this portion of road ditch on
Exhibit 7-19, and provide the necessary drainage channel designs.
Drainage channel designs S[[PM-9 and SIIPM-l7 did not take into account runoff
associated with road to be left in place. Please revise the drainage channel designs to
include runoff generated from the proposed postmining road.
