Regarding the issue of permitting a second g avel pit
in the Animas Valley, please include my comments n your
records.
As a homeowner on CR 250 and a person who moved
specifically to Durango and the Animas Valley bec~use of its
natural beauty, I object strongly to the opening f another
gravel pit for the following reasons:
It is my fear the presence of a commercial g avel pit
in the Animas Valley will depress property values in the
immediate area. i
The gravel mining could substantially damage
vegetation and animal life in the immediate area ~
the plant,
>f the pit.
Dust and noise pollution would spread out wi~hin
several miles of the pit operation.
Destruction of the aesthetic beauty of the v
potential impact on tourism, especially the Duran
Railroad.
Destruction of CR 250 which under the weight
possible 100 truckloads daily would require major
repairs--and residents would be taxed to obtain f
complete repairs.--totally unfair just for one pe
make a profit at the expense of others.
In summary, My wife and I moved two years a
Paso, Texas to escape the noise and dust polluti
environmental destruction that I feel will happe
this permit is approved. All you have to do to
will happen is to take a trip to E1 Paso, look a
Franklin Mountains which used to be beautiful an
totally marred by land development on its slopes
blight on the environment which I dont want to h
in the Animas Valley.
