The Delta County Mosquito District has requested that vegetation be eliminated within 6 to 10 feet from the waters edge around the ponds. We feel that with 3 to 1 slopes, there will be an erosion problem if the slopes aze not revegatated. Natural vegetation will take over these areas over time anyway unless there some measures are taken to eliminate it. These pit aze feed by fresh ground water and do not usttally cause mosquito problems. In reference to the Delta County Commissioners concerns over flooding and bank stabilization, the following cements are offered: We are maintaining a 100 foot mixing setback from the ordinary high water line of the river. We feel that this is as adequate setback to protect the banks of the river. Concerning the Delta Soil Conservation District cements with regard to thickness of topsoil, we feel that 6 inches is adequate, however we would be willing to increase the thickness to 8 inches if you feel it is necessary. We will defer to your judgement regarding the Districts seed recommendations. We have no preference to which seed mixture is used. If you have any questions concerning these items, please contact me.
